Board and Train
We will do all the training for you. We not only do family protection dog training but also complete on- and off-leash obedience training. This 8-week program includes a follow-up session with you to help you handle your dog’s new skills.
Bite Nights
Come out for our group training bite nights! Train along side other clients and work on protection training and or competition obedience with your dog. Bite nights are every Wednesday evening starting at 6:30pm. Please contact for more information and to see if your dog qualifies!
How Protection Training For Dogs Works
Our protection dog training program is designed around the concept of building INTENT. In many other programs, intent is almost an afterthought, with more emphasis being placed on the technical gripping behaviour and how the dog engages with the bite equipment.In the system we use at SHIELD K9, our goal in the foundation is the same whether we are training a sport, police, or personal protection dog. We want dogs to have real intent in their work rather than just playing a fun game of tug with equipment.
Once the foundation is in place, we begin to focus more on the technicalities related to individual disciplines, but you will be pleasantly surprised to find out these are not difficult to accomplish when you have a rock-solid foundation where the dog learns INTENT. Real protection training is not about wearing cool suits or looking slick, catching fast dogs.
